How long does it take to recover from a pneumothorax intubation and venting?

Pneumothorax intubation and exsufflation usually takes 3~5 days to expel all the gas and restore the body function, and the specific recovery time is related to the individual’s physique. Pneumothorax includes closed pneumothorax, tension pneumothorax and open pneumothorax, when containing a large amount of gas need to be promptly performed thoracentesis or closed chest drainage, pneumothorax intubation is usually in the anterior chest clavicle midline between the second intercostal space, to keep the drainage tube open. Recovery usually occurs in 3 to 5 days, at which time the drain can be removed when there is no persistent gas drainage from the chest bottle and no pneumoperitoneum on imaging. Some patients may experience persistent gas drainage from the closed chest drain bottle, and if a significant amount of gas is still being drained after more than a week, surgery is required. Pneumothorax requires prompt medical attention, treatment under the guidance of a doctor, and daily attention to avoid strenuous exercise.
