The efficacy of Shenxiang San is to release qi, facilitate urination, regulate qi and broaden the middle (regulating qi of the spleen and stomach), quench thirst and promote generation of body fluid, etc. There are variations in the efficacy of Shenxiang San in different prescriptions. Shenxiang San belongs to a kind of traditional Chinese medicine prescription, which can be composed of many different kinds of Chinese herbs, and secondly, the efficacy of Shenxiang San recorded in different sources has some differences. According to “Jin Gui Yi”, Shen Xiang San has the efficacy of releasing qi and facilitating urination, which is composed of Shen Xiang, Chen Pi, Angelica Sinensis, Bai Shao and other traditional Chinese medicines, and it is mainly used for treating astringency of urination and non-decreation of gonorrhea. According to the “Three Causes and One Disease Certificate Formulas”, Volume 8, Shenxiang San is composed of Atractylodes macrocephala, Shenxiang, Poria, Angelica sinensis and other traditional Chinese medicines, which has the efficacy of regulating qi and relaxing the middle and curing diseases such as prolonged coldness in the chest and choking and congestion with vomiting. According to Pu Ji Fang, Volume 177, Shen Xiang San is composed of ginseng, sedum, wood incense and other medicines, with the effect of quenching thirst, generating fluids and regulating the heart and qi. When the body is not feeling well, patients need to go to the hospital and use Shen Xiang San to regulate the body under the guidance of the doctor.
