What does it mean when your eyes jump?

Eye hopping is a kind of eye muscle spasm, which can occur in both men and women, and may be caused by pathological or physiological reasons. Pathological causes include intracranial organic lesions, such as brain tumors may compress the nerves, and patients may experience eye spasms. If it is a physiologic cause, mostly considered to be caused by mental tension, stress or lack of sleep, it may also be facial muscle spasm. The disease is a kind of peripheral neuropathy, which can occur at any age, with a higher incidence in middle-aged and elderly people. It mainly starts from the orbicularis oculi muscle and gradually expands to the corners of the mouth and the face, and may present with eye jumping, mouth twitching or facial twitching, but it is not accompanied by other positive signs of the nervous system. The main symptomatic treatment is oral carbamazepine and oxcarbazepine, and radiofrequency ablation and localized nerve closure can also be considered if necessary.
