For painful joint disease, local closure therapy may be used in the course of treatment, that is, the injection of certain drugs into the joint cavity. The pink colored injection is considered to be a vitamin B12 injection and may be combined with local anesthetics such as procaine or lidocaine, and glucocorticoids such as tretinoin injection. This treatment can provide some analgesic effect for some of the more persistent joint pain symptoms. Treatment must be performed in a regular medical facility to avoid inappropriate manipulation that may lead to infection in the joint cavity.
