The duration of the dental implant procedure, i.e. the time required for the process of implanting the artificial tooth root into the alveolar bone, usually takes 0.5 hours for a single tooth. The time it takes to complete the entire dental implant procedure, including the time it takes to complete the restoration and to put the tooth on, varies from person to person. The shortest may take more than 3 months, and longer may even take more than 1 year. This is because some people need bone grafting, and if the bone condition is not sufficient to support the implant, additional bone grafting is required. Usually, the bone implants are artificial materials, and the artificial bone needs to be fused with the autologous bone after it is placed.
