Is it good to recover from hyperthyroid liver damage

Patients with hyperthyroidism who develop liver damage need to go to the hospital in time. Damage caused by antithyroid drugs needs to be reduced or stopped in time. If it is caused by drugs and the degree of liver damage is mild, liver damage is likely to recover; if the patient’s liver damage is severe, such as cirrhosis and liver failure, it is usually difficult to recover. Hyperthyroidism is a metabolic syndrome caused by overproduction of thyroid hormones. Liver damage may be caused by hyperthyroidism itself or by antithyroid medications, and may be manifested by elevated aminotransferases. If the degree of liver damage in patients with hyperthyroidism is mild, and the elevation of aminotransferase is not obvious, after clarifying the cause of the disease, the liver of some patients may return to normal after stopping antithyroid drugs and following the doctor’s prescription of medication to stabilize the control of thyroid hormone levels. However, if the degree of liver damage in patients with hyperthyroidism is severe, transaminases are significantly elevated, irreversible liver fibrosis and liver failure have occurred, it is usually very difficult to recover, and the patient may be treated with oral liver-protecting drugs. It is recommended that hyperthyroid patients with liver damage go to the hospital in time to avoid delaying their condition.
