There is no course of treatment with theophylline extended-release tablets. If you use theophylline extended-release tablets to treat wheezing bronchitis, you can consider stopping the drug when the bronchitis symptoms are relieved. However, if theophylline is used to treat bronchial asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, there is no course of treatment, and now it is not recommended to use theophylline extended-release tablets to treat asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Because aminophylline mainly treats the symptoms but not the root cause, it mainly relieves the symptoms, but it is not effective for chronic inflammation of airways such as asthma or COPD, and it is easy to have side effects. In case of wheezing caused by bronchial asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, inhaled glucocorticoids combined with long-acting beta agonists or long-acting anticholinergic drugs are now recommended for inhalation treatment. Theophylline extended-release tablets are not a first-line drug for asthma and COPD.
