Can a minor orbital fracture heal on its own?

Minor fractures of the orbit usually heal on their own, but the exact prognosis depends on the patient’s condition. If a patient has a minor orbital fracture, it may be a break in the bone cortex caused by trauma, or it may be a pathologic fracture. This degree of fracture is not serious, the orbital fracture site has no crack or a small crack, no fracture dislocation or displacement, no nerve compression symptoms, usually can be self-healing. However, the healing time may be longer and may take about 3 months or even longer. However, if the patient’s orbital fracture is obvious, with symptoms such as eye muscle cantonment and eyeball invagination, this situation cannot be self-healing, and the patient needs timely treatment, such as orbital surgery. It is recommended that patients with orbital fracture should seek prompt medical attention to assess their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions.
