What to look for in an adrenal CT

The precautions to be taken when having an adrenal CT scan, adrenal CT scanning requires a thin layer scan with a scanning layer spacing of 2.5mm a layer. A normal CT has a layer spacing of about 7.5mm a layer, so a CT of the adrenal glands is much thinner than a normal CT. The only requirement during the CT is for the patient to hold his/her breath. Generally, the patient needs to hold his/her breath after the doctor’s instruction, so as to avoid the adrenal glands bobbing up and down with the respiratory movement, which may cause discontinuous image results, image trailing or artifacts during the examination. There is no absolute requirement on diet, the examination can be performed on an empty stomach, and the CT examination of adrenal glands can also be performed after eating. For foreign objects or implants in the body, such as fixation plates for fractures, etc., it is necessary to inform the doctor in advance to decide whether to perform adrenal CT examination. If there is a foreign body in the adrenal region, it may cause metal artifacts during the CT scanning process and affect the observation.
