Treatment of mild bunions

In patients with mild bunions, the bunion angle is less than 30°, the intermetatarsal angle is less than 13°, the metatarsophalangeal joints are not dislocated, and the joints match, and patients with mild bunions usually have no symptoms or mild symptoms. Conservative treatment is often used for these bunion patients. It is recommended to wear loose-fitting or open-toed shoes, avoiding shoes that are too pointy, too high, or too tight, and applying bunion pads or interphalangeal pads at night to correct the deformity and relieve pain. If conservative treatment fails to correct the deformity and relieve pain, surgery is usually recommended. Commonly used surgeries include Chevron surgery and Akin surgery, etc. Minimally invasive surgery can also be used to treat mild bunions.
