Can pulmonary fibrosis heal on its own?

Pulmonary fibrosis is unlikely to heal on its own. Once pulmonary fibrosis has developed, it indicates that structural changes have occurred, so it is unlikely to heal on its own. There are more than 200 causes of pulmonary fibrosis, generally divided into known and unknown causes. The most common known causes include mushroom lung in farmers who grow mushrooms, fungus lung in farmers who grow fungus, coal workers’ pneumoconiosis or silicosis in coal workers, etc. Of course, there are also interstitial lung diseases caused by connective tissue diseases, such as interstitial lung disease associated with common dry syndrome, or interstitial lung disease associated with rheumatoid arthritis, or interstitial lung disease associated with myositis or dermatomyositis. There are some other causes not found, such as idiopathic interstitial pneumonia, the most common of which are idiopathic pulmonary interstitial fibrosis, nonspecific interstitial pneumonia, desquamative interstitial pneumonia, and lymphocytic interstitial pneumonia.
