What is total sperm motility

Total sperm motility refers to the percentage of motile sperm in the semen, that is, sperm with normal viability and fertilization ability. Total sperm motility is closely related to reproduction, the so-called motility refers to the sperm’s ability to move, only the sperm with motility can really have normal viability and fertilization, so the total sperm motility is often used as a routine examination index to assess the quality of semen. People who smoke, drink or are sedentary tend to have low sperm motility, and if the total sperm motility does not reach a certain standard during the test, it can be diagnosed as weak spermatozoa. Men with low sperm motility or weak spermatozoa are usually infertile.
