Hypertension Classification Subgroups

According to the elevated level of blood pressure, hypertension can be classified into grades 1 to 3, and according to whether it is combined with other target organ damage and cardiovascular risk factors, it can be categorized into 4 groups, namely, low-risk, intermediate-risk, high-risk and very high-risk. 1. Hypertension classification: Grade 1 hypertension is systolic blood pressure (high pressure) 140-159mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure (low pressure) 90-99mmHg; Grade 2 hypertension is systolic blood pressure 160-179mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure 100-109mmHg; Grade 3 hypertension is systolic blood pressure ≥180mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure ≥110mmHg. 2. Hypertension grouping: (1) Low-risk group: simple grade 1 hypertension is the low-risk group. (2) Intermediate-risk group: Grade 1 hypertension combined with 1 or 2 risk factors, and grade 2 hypertension as the intermediate-risk group. (3) High-risk group: Grade 1 or 2 hypertension combined with 3 or more risk factors or target organ damage, as well as grade 3 hypertension as the high-risk group. (4) Very high risk group: Grade 3 hypertension with risk factors or target organ damage, regardless of the grade of hypertension, as long as the combination of diabetes mellitus or the rest of the clinical complications are very high risk group. The grading and grouping of hypertension helps doctors to formulate scientific, standardized and individualized treatment plans according to patients’ conditions, which helps to control the development of the disease and improve patients’ quality of life.
