Fever after ERCP, or endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, may be associated with the occurrence of complications such as pancreatitis, biliary tract infection, or perforation, among other causes. ERCP is the insertion of a catheter into the pancreatic or bile ducts for imaging under direct vision of a fiberoptic duodenoscope through the duodenal papilla. Diseases can be treated by ERCP, such as performing endoscopic sphincter of Oddi incision lithotomy, transendoscopic nasobiliary drainage, etc. Postoperative pancreatitis can be complicated by the operation, which causes edema and narrowing of the duodenal papilla, leading to abdominal distension, abdominal pain, and may be accompanied by the appearance of a mild fever. If pancreatitis occurs after surgery and biliary tract infection occurs at the same time, it may cause chills and high fever. If perforation is caused by surgery, abdominal pain, abdominal distension, vomiting, nausea and fever may be present, with pressure and muscle tension in the abdomen. Fever after ERCP surgery needs to be reported to the doctor for active treatment. Usually need to use strong antibiotic treatment, such as moxifloxacin, cefoperazone sulbactamina and so on.
