Chai Hu is pungent, bitter and diarrheal, and enters the liver meridian, which is good at regulating liver qi and relieving depression, so it can be used for treating the chest and ribs (collectively known as the chest and ribcage area) or lesser abdomen (abdomen) distension and pain and depression caused by the liver’s failure to regulate the liver’s flow of qi (the liver’s ability to regulate the liver’s flow of qi is abnormal), as well as by the obstruction of qi flow. It is not suitable for those with yin deficiency and hyperactivity of yang, internal movement of liver wind, yin deficiency and fire, and upward reversal of qi.
Gentian herb can clear heat and dry dampness, and diarrhea liver and gallbladder fire. It is used for jaundice with dampness-heat, swollen and itchy yin, subluxation of the belt, itchy eczema, redness of the eyes due to liver fire, tinnitus and deafness, and other syndromes. It is not suitable for people with cold spleen and stomach, and should be used with caution for people with yin deficiency and fluid injury.
Chai Hu Shun Liver Essence is composed of Chen Pi, Chai Hu, Chuan Xiong, Citrus aurantium, Paeonia lactiflora, Glycyrrhiza glabra, and Fragrant Herb, etc. It has the efficacy of dispersing liver qi and relieving depression, promoting qi movement and relieving pain (relieving pain by regulating the qi of the body). It is used for treating liver-qi stagnation syndrome, which is characterized by pain in hypochondrium and ribs, chest tightness, depression or irritability, belching (belching), and fullness in the epigastrium (stomach and abdomen).
The adverse effects of the above formula are not known. Patients with discomfort are advised to seek prompt medical attention and standardized treatment. Self-medication is not recommended to avoid delaying the condition.
