How to spend the winter safely for the “old slow-onset” patients

”Chronic bronchitis is a common disease and a high incidence among middle-aged and elderly people in winter, mostly due to untreated acute bronchitis. Anyone who has cough and sputum for 3 months out of the year and has had episodes for more than 2 years can be considered to have “old chronic bronchitis”. According to statistics, the incidence of this disease is about 15% to 30% among middle-aged and elderly people over 50 years of age in China. It often manifests itself as coughing and coughing, or is accompanied by shortness of breath and wheezing. The cold climate in winter makes it easy for respiratory infections to occur, leading to the recurrence and aggravation of “old slow branch”, so winter is a difficult hurdle for patients with “old slow branch”. The acute attack of this disease combined with bacterial infection can be treated with antimicrobial agents, but it is still easy to have recurrent attacks or aggravation due to cold. It has been proved that TCM combines treatment and prevention, taking into account both the symptoms and the root causes, and has good effects in regulating immunity, relieving cough and resolving phlegm, and preventing recurrence due to cold, especially its idea of treating the disease before the disease is diagnosed as a whole and supporting the root cause is of great practical significance in preventing recurrence over winter. For elderly people without obvious bacterial infections and those in remission, the main method is to use Chinese medicine to nourish the body, or to take decoction soup, or to use boiled cream, and usually to use solid food to nourish and support the body, so as to combine treatment and nourishment, eliminate the disease and prevent recurrence. If coughing is the main cause of coughing attacks, we can consider “hot cough” (cough with thick, sticky or yellow sputum and yellow tongue coating), “cold cough” (cough caused by cold, white foamy sputum, or fear of cold), “dry cough “(dry cough, dry pharynx, dry tongue coating), and so on; once the cough is eliminated, treatment should be given to warm the lung qi (Yu Ping Feng San, Ginseng and Su Drink, Sha Shen Liu Jun Tang as the ingredients for the cream), or to strengthen the spleen and promote gold (Li Zhong Liu Jun Tang as the ingredients for the cream). If phlegm is the main manifestation of phlegm production, we can consider “cold phlegm” (phlegm production due to cold, white and thin phlegm, and fear of cold), “damp phlegm” (white phlegm in large amount, easy to produce, and more due to eating cold), and “dry phlegm” (phlegm as sticky as silk, with a tendency to be dry). “(phlegm sticky like silk, or with blood), “hot phlegm” (phlegm yellow and thick, or with fishy smell), “salty phlegm” (phlegm thin and salty), respectively, to warm the phlegm drink (Xiao Qing Long Tang), dry dampness and resolve phlegm (Er Chen Tang When the phlegm disappears, we should treat them by strengthening the spleen and helping the transportation to block the source of phlegm (Lijunzi Tang and Rizhong Tang are the ingredients of the cream), or by tonifying the kidneys and warming and helping the qi to eliminate the root of phlegm (Guihuo Bahui Wan and Jinshui Lijun Decoction are the ingredients of the cream).
