Perioperative care of pituitary tumors

Perioperative care for pituitary tumor mainly includes two major aspects, the first is preoperative care and the second is postoperative care. Preoperative care includes stabilizing blood pressure, controlling blood sugar, and then don’t have symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection such as runny nose and sneezing within three days, and trimming nose hairs one day before surgery. Postoperative care is relatively more important, as follows: first, control the vital signs stable, especially to maintain stable blood pressure. Second, observe the patient’s body temperature in time, if the temperature exceeds 38.5 degrees, the doctor must be informed for appropriate treatment. Third, observe whether the cerebrospinal fluid has nasal leakage, if so, must let the patient absolutely bed rest. Fourth, make sure to avoid high-risk actions such as blowing and wiping the patient’s nose within three days, which can easily pull out the expanding sponge and cause adverse consequences. Fifth, pay attention to the observation of the patient’s symptoms, if there is a severe headache, nausea, vomiting, and visual defects, be sure to inform the doctor in time, there may be the possibility of postoperative re-bleeding.
