The causes of slightly flattened lumbar vertebrae include physiologic and pathologic, and physiologic generally requires no treatment. Pathologic causes include osteoporosis, lumbar spondylolisthesis, etc. Treatment includes medication, surgery and physical therapy. 1. Physiological: due to year-round heavy physical labor, resulting in physiological bending or compression of the spine, generally no symptoms without treatment. 2.Pathologic (1) Osteoporosis: Degenerative diseases in middle-aged and old-aged people can cause bone loss, resulting in osteoporosis, which can easily lead to multiple spinal fractures, and lumbar spine flattening can be seen in the imaging examination. Osteoporosis can be treated with medications such as estrogen (estradiol, ethinyl estradiol), calcitonin (epirubicin), vitamin D (calcitriol, alfacalcitol), isoproterenol (epirubicin), and so on. In addition to medication, light therapy, high-frequency electrotherapy, nutritional therapy, etc. can also be used. (2) Lumbar spondylolisthesis: lumbar physiotherapy, lumbar support, lumbar protection, etc. can be used. For those with nerve compression pain, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesics such as indomethacin can be applied. If non-surgical treatment is ineffective, surgical treatment (e.g. discectomy, intervertebral implant fusion) can be adopted. If the above symptoms occur, it is recommended to go to the hospital for early treatment. All of the above medications should be used under the guidance of a doctor, avoid self-medication.
