Can you still breastfeed your baby if you have a fever while breastfeeding?

If the fever is lower than 38.5℃ during breastfeeding, the baby can be fed. More than 38.5 ℃ is common in the case of more serious infections, viruses, bacteria and other pathogens in the mother’s body may be transmitted to the baby through the milk so it is not recommended to breastfeed the baby.
It is important to note that when a breastfeeding mom has a fever, she should drink plenty of water (or other fluids) because dehydration can reduce the quality of her breastmilk. Remember to wash your hands before holding your baby.
When breastfeeding mothers have fever, it is recommended to go to the hospital for blood tests, ultrasound of the breast, C-reactive protein, etc. to clarify the cause of the fever, and some medicines may be passed to the baby through breast milk. Before taking oral medication must be under the guidance of a doctor, do not take medication without authorization to avoid adverse consequences.
