Baby’s tearing and eye boogers may be caused by conjunctivitis, dacryocystitis, keratitis and other reasons.
1. Conjunctivitis: Conjunctivitis is caused by bacterial and viral infections. Under the stimulation of inflammation, children may experience discomfort such as foreign body sensation, burning sensation, photophobia, and tearing of the eyes, which may be accompanied by an increase in ocular secretions.
2. Dacryocystitis: Children with dacryocystitis may also have conjunctival congestion, tearing, purulent secretions, and redness, swelling and pain in the dacryocystic area.
3. Keratitis: Keratitis is related to pathogen infection and immune abnormality, etc. Children with keratitis may have eye pain, photophobia, tearing, decreased vision and increased purulent secretion, and may be accompanied by ciliary congestion and corneal ulceration, etc., which may lead to corneal perforation in severe cases.
