Does aortic valve insufficiency get worse?

Untreated aortic valve closure can progress and worsen, causing deterioration of heart function and even death. Aortic valve insufficiency can cause the blood in the aorta to reflux back to the heart, causing dilatation of the heart’s left ventricle, increasing pressure in the left ventricle, weakening of myocardial contraction, decreasing of cardiac output, and ultimately the development of cardiac insufficiency. At the same time, aortic valve closure insufficiency can cause a decrease in diastolic blood pressure and insufficient coronary artery perfusion, thus causing myocardial ischemia, which can also lead to cardiac insufficiency. Aortic valve insufficiency can be asymptomatic for a period of time, but the condition may deteriorate rapidly once symptoms appear. Therefore, after diagnosis of aortic valve insufficiency, one should seek medical treatment as soon as possible to avoid worsening of the condition and adverse consequences.
