The role of internal fistula
1.The internal fistula is the lifeline for chronic hemodialysis patients.
2.Ensure adequate blood flow.
3.Reduce the pain of puncture.
Post-operative care of endovascular fistula
1.Keep the wound clean and sterile.
2.Change the dressing regularly.
3.Check the patency of the endovascular fistula regularly: for tremors and murmurs.
4.Elevate the limb on the fistula side to reduce distal swelling and puffiness.
5.Avoid tight dressing on the fistula side of the limb.
6.Avoid compression of blood vessels.
7.Usually use the internal fistula after 4-6 weeks.
Routine care of internal fistula
1.Endovascular fistula is only used for hemodialysis and cannot draw blood, replenish fluids or measure blood pressure on the limb on the side of the endovascular fistula.
2, the limb on the side of the internal fistula avoid forceful activities, but appropriate activities are beneficial to keep the blood flowing smoothly and increase blood flow.
3.When sleeping, be careful not to press the endovascular side of the limb under the body to prevent blockage of the endovascular fistula.
4.If the skin at the internal fistula is infected, please report to the medical staff for appropriate treatment.
5.If the puncture fails and the skin is swollen, apply ice and 33% magnesium sulfate wet compress, and after 24 hours, apply heat.
6.If inflammation or allergy occurs in the endovascular or puncture site, please report to the doctor and nurse on duty and give appropriate treatment.
7.If you find swelling and pain in the limb after lifting the gauze compression to stop bleeding, you should suspect blood leakage, use your hand to press lightly, and return to the hospital for treatment.
8.After the end of hemodialysis, gauze compression to stop bleeding for 15-30 minutes.
Prevention of infection
1.After lifting the compression gauze, replace the sterile hemostatic post at the puncture site.
2.Keep the endovascular limb clean and dry.
3.Itching of the skin at the endovascular site should be avoided by scratching.
4, Sterile wipes are not allowed to be thrown away during hemodialysis to maintain the relative sterility of the puncture site.
5.Keep the hemodialysis room clean and ventilated.
