Spleen-stomach disharmony is a Chinese medical condition characterized by inappetence and indigestion. Clinically, it is often treated with the formulas of Zhi Zhong Tang, Er Chen Tang and Ping Gong San.
1. Zhi Zhong Tang: the main ingredients are ginseng, licorice, dry ginger, atractylodes, green peels, and chen peels; its main effect is to harmonize the spleen and stomach, and it is mainly used for treating the diseases caused by the disharmony between spleen and stomach, such as reduced diet, shortness of qi and weak wonkiness and vomiting, cholera, vomiting and diarrhea, chest paralysis (chest pain), heart pain, shortness of qi, mid-fullness, and diaphragmatic congestion and obstruction.
2. Er Chen Tang: composed of Semixia, Tangerine Red, Poria, Glycyrrhiza, its main function is to dry dampness and resolve phlegm (dispel dampness by drying dampness and resolve phlegm), regulate qi and zhong (regulate the qi of the spleen and stomach to make the functions of the spleen and stomach smooth), and it is mainly used to treat cough and phlegm, white and easy to cluck, nausea and vomiting, chest and diaphragm constriction, heavy limbs and body (limbs are weak and dull), dizziness and palpitation, and other diseases.
3. Ping Stomach San: mainly composed of Atractylodes macrocephala, Atractylodes macrocephala, Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, Glycyrrhiza Glabra, mainly used for drying dampness and transporting the spleen, promoting qi and stomach, treating epigastric (abdomen) distension and fullness, lack of appetite, tastelessness, nausea and vomiting, belching (belching), acid swallowing (swallowing of acid in the stomach upwardly to the mouth and pharynx), heaviness of the limbs, laziness, sleepyness, and other diseases.
