A 3-year-old child’s mouth will be crooked when he is angry, mostly caused by bad habits, partly caused by facial neuritis and other diseases, need to identify the cause for targeted treatment.
1. Children who use only one side of the muscles to chew food for a long time may lead to asymmetrical development of facial muscles on both sides, which may cause the child’s mouth to be crooked when he or she speaks, and the mouth may be crooked when he or she is angry. If the child’s mouth is crooked when angry, parents should try to communicate with the child and urge him/her to change the bad habit, otherwise the development of facial structure may be affected.
2. If facial neuritis causes a crooked mouth, it may be accompanied by symptoms such as one side of the eyes not being able to close, and one side of the eyes not having a lifting line when looking upwards. In this case, children usually have a crooked mouth not only when they are angry. Targeted treatment by a specialist is needed, including hormone (e.g., prednisone) therapy and antiviral (e.g., acyclovir) therapy.
Children with similar symptoms are advised to consult a doctor for a clear diagnosis and to follow the doctor’s instructions to avoid delayed treatment. All of the above medications should be used under a doctor’s supervision.
