Distribution and effects of acupoints on the calf

There are many acupoints on the calf, such as the Foot Sanli Point, the Upper Ju Xu Point, and the Lower Ju Xu Point. Different points have different locations and effects. For example, the foot Sanli is located on the lateral side of the lower leg, 3 inches below the calf’s nose, 1 transverse finger outside the anterior ridge of the tibia, on the line between the calf’s nose and Xiexi; it has the effects of tonifying the middle Jiuqi (treating deficiency of qi by means of tonifying the spleen), strengthening the spleen and the stomach, and regulating qi and lowering the rebelliousness of qi.
The main treatment of Foot Sanli is stomach pain, vomiting, abdominal distension, diarrhea, dysentery, constipation, lower limb impotence and paralysis (weakness, numbness and pain in the lower limbs), and breast carbuncle (redness, swelling and pain in the breast and poor discharge of milk, which ultimately results in a suppurative disease).
Upper Giant Hollow is located on the lateral side of the lower leg, 6 inches below the calf’s nose, on the line between calf’s nose and Xiexi. It has the efficacy of regulating abdominal qi and relieving tendons and activating collaterals. It treats intestinal tinnitus, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation and dysentery.
Lower Ju Xu is located on the lateral side of the calf, 9 inches below the calf’s nose, on the line between calf’s nose and Xie Xi. It has the effects of clearing the stomach and regulating the intestines, regulating the qi and activating the channels (combing the qi and dredging the meridians), and calming and tranquilizing the mind. It is used for treating diarrhea, dysentery, abdominal pain, impotence of the lower limbs, and breast carbuncle.
If needling the above points is required, it needs to be operated by a specialized doctor.
