Liver-stomach disharmony may be characterized by distension and pain in the stomach and epigastric region and ribs, uncertainty of movement, belching, acid swallowing (swallowing of acid in the stomach that rushes upward to the mouth and throat), and noisy (a feeling of hunger and emptiness with burning in the stomach). Liver-stomach disharmony refers to the symptoms of liver-qi stagnation, stomach disharmony (obstruction of the stomach’s function of circulation and descending), with distension and pain in the epigastric region and emotional depression as the main manifestations. It is also known as Liver-Qi against Stomach syndrome and Liver-Stomach-Qi Stagnation syndrome. As a result of emotional disorders (unsettled emotions), liver loss of detachment (abnormal function of the liver’s detachment), liver qi transverse and rebellious to the stomach (the liver’s qi is not smooth so that it infringes on the stomach’s function), and stagnation of gastric qi, there is distension and pain in the chest and hypochondrium (a collective term for the chest and the ribcage area); gastric qi upward and reversal (gastric qi rises instead of descending), which leads to ergonomics (hiccups) and belching; and as a result of liver disorders and emotional disorders, depression is the main manifestation. In addition, due to liver qi against the stomach, the stomach is not the main receptive (acceptance of accommodation), then swallowing acid noisy, do not think of food; thin white moss, pulse stringy, for the liver qi stagnation of the phenomenon; if the qi depression into fire, then the tongue red moss thin yellow, the pulse is stringy.
