Is it normal to have a blood pressure of 149 and a low pressure of 96?

A blood pressure of 149 and a low pressure of 96 are considered to be mildly high. It may be related to strenuous exercise, mental stress, hypertension, cardiovascular lesions and so on. If physiological reasons are excluded, it is recommended that the patient go to the hospital in time for examination to clarify the cause of the disease. Blood pressure is considered elevated when the systolic blood pressure is ≥ 140 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure is ≥ 90 mmHg. Elevated blood pressure can be divided into physiological and pathological: 1. Physiological: Elevated blood pressure occurs when the patient’s heart contraction is enhanced after strenuous exercise within 2 hours or when he/she is mentally stressed, resulting in vasoconstriction. Usually, after removing the causative factors, the blood pressure will return to normal value. 2. Pathologic: (1) Hypertension: When the systolic blood pressure is 140-159 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure is 90-99 mmHg, it belongs to grade 1 hypertension. It is commonly accompanied by dizziness, headache, neck tightness, fatigue, palpitations and other symptoms. (2) Cardiovascular lesions: cardiovascular lesions such as aortic valve insufficiency, complete atrioventricular block, aortic constriction, and polyarteritis may lead to increased blood pressure. If physiological factors are excluded, it is recommended that patients go to the hospital in time to improve the relevant examination and clarify the cause of the disease.
