CT can detect liver cancer, but the definitive diagnosis of liver cancer needs the support of more tests. CT plain scan intuitively shows a low-density shadow of the liver, which may be liver cancer or some benign lesions, such as liver cysts, hepatic hemangiomas, focal nodular hyperplasia of the liver, liver abscesses, etc. Therefore, it needs further perfect examination to be sure. If hepatocellular carcinoma is suspected, another CT enhancement scan can be done. If it is hepatocellular carcinoma, in the arterial stage, the hepatocellular carcinoma area will have obvious enhancement, and the area around the hepatocellular carcinoma will have inconspicuous enhancement, and in the venous stage, the hepatocellular carcinoma area will have low-density changes, while the area around the hepatocellular carcinoma will show relative high-density enhancement. In addition, other tests such as alpha-fetoprotein, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and positron emission tomography (PET-CT) can be done according to specific conditions. If there is any discomfort, please follow the doctor’s instructions to improve the relevant examinations.
