Belly button bleeding is relatively common in 20-day-old newborns, mostly because the umbilical cord has not fallen off, or the cord has just fallen off for 1-2 days, manifesting as a small amount of bloody discharge around the umbilical cord, but no redness, swelling or purulent discharge. It is recommended to wipe the deep central part of the umbilicus with Anil Iodine or alcohol 1-2 times a day, which usually heals in 1-2 days. On the contrary, if there is a small amount of bleeding, congestion, edema and purulent discharge in the umbilicus, it is mostly due to bacterial infection when the umbilical cord is shed, which is called neonatal infectious umbilitis.
