What are the symptoms of cerebral infarction in the elderly

Cerebral infarction in the elderly has different causes as well as different lesion sites, and its symptoms are also different. They are generally categorized into atherosclerotic cerebral infarction, cardiogenic embolic cerebral infarction, small artery occlusive cerebral infarction and so on.
1. Large artery atherosclerotic cerebral infarction: patients mainly manifested ataxia, aphasia, hemiplegia, hemiparesis and other focal neurological deficit symptoms. In case of large cerebral infarction and basilar artery occlusion, patients may suffer from headache, vomiting, consciousness disorder, and even formation of cerebral hernia.
2. Cardiogenic embolic cerebral infarction: the onset of the disease is more acute, most patients may have consciousness disorder in a short time, which may easily lead to cerebral edema, causing increased intracranial pressure and coma.
3. Small artery occlusion cerebral infarction: most patients have lacunar cerebral infarction, which mainly manifests as dysarthria, dysphagia, etc., accompanied by mild weakness of hands and feet, and fine motor disorder, hemiplegia and sensory abnormalities.
When the symptoms of cerebral infarction appear, attention should be paid and medical treatment should be sought as soon as possible, so that the cause can be clarified and targeted treatment can be given.
