Cleaning of tonsil stones is not recommended to be done on your own. They should be treated by a doctor at a hospital. Small stones can be treated with a scraper. Large stones can be treated by surgery.
1. Small stones: especially small stones have some chance of falling out on their own, but generally have little chance of falling out on their own. Smaller stones can be removed with negative pressure suction or with a spatula, but self-treatment is not recommended.
2. Large stones: Large stones or stubborn tonsil stones that interfere with normal swallowing can be treated with incision and lithotripsy. In this case, incision and lithotripsy can be chosen. During the surgery, the large stones will be removed, and then the tonsils will be removed to prevent the stones from falling out accidentally.
Tonsil stones can cause inflammation that can lead to pain in the throat, and if the stones are large, they can interfere with normal swallowing and need to be treated in a timely manner, but it is not recommended to do this on your own.
