How long does it take to cure Kawasaki disease in young children

How long it takes to cure Kawasaki disease in young children is largely related to whether the child is treated promptly. If the child is treated within ten days of the onset of the disease, the child’s disease will usually return to full normal within a month or so, but the child will still need to be followed up over the following months to see if there is any heart damage. However, if treatment is delayed and the child is not treated within 10 days, there is a risk of remaining heart problems such as coronary stenosis, coronary aneurysm, or even cardiac insufficiency. For such children, long-term medication and regular follow-up in the outpatient clinic will be required.
