Prostatitis in men can be categorized into acute prostatitis and chronic prostatitis. Acute patients generally have acute pain, accompanied by abnormal urination-related symptoms and fever; chronic patients generally have pelvic pain, lower urinary tract symptoms and reproductive system symptoms.
1. Acute prostatitis: patients may manifest acute pain, accompanied by sudden fever, chills, fatigue, weakness and other systemic symptoms, as well as frequent urination, urinary urgency, urinary dribbling, thinning or interruption of the urinary line, and in severe cases, urinary retention. Locally, it can be manifested as a feeling of heavy pressure on the perineum or suprapubic region.
2. Chronic prostatitis: the general symptom is pelvic pain, mainly pelvic area wide location, unclear localization of swelling and hidden pain. It can also be manifested as urethral discomfort or burning sensation during urination, waiting for urine and incomplete urination. Some patients may experience reproductive system symptoms such as decreased libido and erectile dysfunction.
Symptoms of acute and chronic prostatitis can be different, and patients are advised to seek timely medical attention for any discomfort.
