How to treat hepatic ascites with Chinese medicine

In the treatment of cirrhosis ascites, Chinese medicine practitioners will identify the deficiency of spleen qi, yin deficiency of liver and kidney (deficiency of yin in liver and kidney), damp-heat obstruction, blood stasis and yang deficiency of liver and kidney and adopt corresponding traditional Chinese medicine formulas. Spleen-Qi deficiency is often treated with formulas that strengthen the spleen and resolve dampness (strengthening the spleen and eliminating dampness), such as Wu Ling San and Ginseng Ling Bai Zhu San; Wu Ling San is a Chinese herbal preparation that warms yang and transforms qi (warms and passes yang qi in the body), and induces dampness and promotes the flow of water. It is used in treating dysuria, edema and abdominal distension. Ginseng Ling Bai Zhu San can be used for the treatment of weak spleen and stomach, loose food, shortness of breath and cough, and tiredness of limbs. If there is dampness-heat in the liver and gallbladder (dampness-heat evils accumulated in the liver and gallbladder), Yin Chen Wu Ling San can often be used for the treatment of dysuria, edema, abdominal distension, vomiting and diarrhea caused by unfavorable bladder qi, and water-dampness internal aggregation. If there is a deficiency of yang in the liver and kidneys, Jin Gui Ren Qi Wan can be used. Jin Gui Kidney Qi Pill is a traditional Chinese medicine that warms and replenishes kidney yang (warming and replenishing kidney yang qi), moves qi and transforms water, and is used for treating kidney deficiency with edema, lumbar and knee soreness (a feeling of soreness and weakness in the lumbar region and knees), unfavorable urination, and fear of cold limbs (fear of being cold and cold limbs). The medicine should be used in accordance with the doctor’s prescription during treatment, and should not be used blindly on its own.
