GDA is the gastroduodenal artery, abbreviated as GDA, which is one of the branches of the common hepatic artery. This artery passes behind the pylorus and divides into the right artery of the gastric omentum and the superior pancreaticoduodenal artery. The right artery of the gastric omentum travels from right to left along the greater curvature of the stomach, branching to the stomach and greater omentum, while the superior pancreaticoduodenal artery, which is located between the head of the pancreas and the duodenum, nourishes these two organs. The pathological significance of this artery lies in the fact that if a thrombus is formed in the left atrium in the case of mitral stenosis and the embolus is dislodged, or in the case of aortic coarctation lesions, it may affect the gastroduodenal artery, thus exhibiting symptoms of ischemia in the area of its blood supply, such as nausea and vomiting of the gastrointestinal tract as well as abdominal pain, so do not ignore the vascular pathology because of the abdominal symptoms.
