The difference between a lipoma and a fulminant pouch

The main difference between a lipoma and a fulminant pouch is that lipomas are found throughout the body within various fatty tissues, whereas a simple fulminant pouch is only found in this area of the back of the neck below the hairline. Lipomas are mostly benign lesions and may occur in deeper tissues of the body, such as the liver, spleen, and mesentery, as well as in other parts of the body, including the cranium and brain, whereas fulminant pockets are abnormal growths and thickenings of fat that are relatively confined to the area of the back of the neck. Lipomas do not require special treatment or surgical or pharmacologic intervention if they are relatively small, and surgical excision may also be considered for larger abdominal packs to alleviate symptoms of pressure and pain.
