Can you use iodophor for herpes?

Herpes can be treated with iodophor, but iodophor is not effective in treating herpes and can only be used for disinfection and sterilization to prevent secondary infection. Herpes is a skin disease caused by herpes virus infection, clinically common are herpes simplex, chickenpox and shingles. It is mainly a single or group of blisters, which can be accompanied by fever and pain. Antiviral treatment is required, with oral or topical antiviral drugs, or in severe cases, intravenous drips. Patients who develop pain or fever may be given symptomatic treatment such as pain relief and fever reduction. Iodophor is commonly used as a germicidal disinfectant in medical practice, and can be used to disinfect skin, mucous membranes and utensils, as well as to treat burns, trichomoniasis, fungal infections and septic skin inflammation. Iodophor can kill most bacteria and fungi, but it cannot kill viruses, so it has no therapeutic effect on herpes. Although iodophor cannot treat herpes, it can be used to disinfect the surrounding skin to prevent the herpes from breaking down and becoming more infected secondary to the infection. Note that when applying it, pay attention to local hygiene and do not scratch it. It is normal to feel tingling after applying it, and it should be used with caution for those who are allergic to iodine.
