The common causes of hypochlorhydria are as follows: 1. Hypochlorhydria is often caused by chronic diarrhea, bloating and vomiting, and patients with hypochlorhydria usually have a history of gastric ulcer, which leads to diarrhea, bloating and vomiting, resulting in increased water discharge and excessive loss of chloride ions in the body, ultimately causing hypochlorhydria. 2. Hypochlorhydria is also seen in patients with other systemic diseases, such as renal disease, where the glomerular filtration rate decreases, resulting in the continuous excretion of trace elements from the body and eventually causing hypochlorhydria.2 Patients may also lose a large amount of chloride ions in urine due to the use of various medications, such as diuretics. In addition, hypochlorhydria is also common in patients with generalized edema, where the excess water in the body increases but the trace elements are relatively scarce, leading to hypochlorhydria.
