Gynecological ultrasound does not require fasting. There are two modern types of gynecological ultrasound: abdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. Abdominal ultrasound requires a full bladder to visualize the uterine adnexes and pelvis, and transvaginal ultrasound requires emptying the bladder. Ultrasound of the gallbladder and stomach should be done on an empty stomach because the gallbladder shrinks after a meal and the bile empties out, and the shrinkage of the gallbladder affects the visualization of tiny lesions in the gallbladder lumen. In addition, there will be a large amount of food in the stomach cavity after meals, which will block the echo of the lesions in the stomach cavity, thus affecting the ultrasound diagnosis of the stomach, the rest of the ultrasound examination does not require fasting.
