Methods of checking sperm quality

The easiest and most effective way to check sperm quality is usually to analyze the semen through a microscope. The quality of sperm includes sperm viability, sperm survival rate and sperm malformation rate.
Before the semen specimen is collected, you need to abstain from sex for about 7 days, during which time you should not drink alcohol, stay up late or use any medication. The semen is removed and sent for examination within half an hour. Under the microscope, the doctor can observe the total number of sperms, the density of sperms, the survival rate of sperms, the percentage of sperms moving forward, and assess the liquefaction time of semen.
The best results are usually obtained within 30-60 minutes; temperatures below 20°C or above 40°C may affect sperm motility. In addition, it is important to have a good night’s sleep and not to be overworked during the semen test.
It is important to note that you must go to a regular hospital for the test, and you should not assume that there is a problem with the quality of your sperm based on just one test. If there is an abnormality, the test can be repeated in about 7 to 14 days, and the correct result can only be obtained in 2 to 3 consecutive times.
