Causes of Tears in Sleep

Tears in the eyes during sleep may be related to physiological factors, or may be caused by narrowing of the tear ducts, incomplete eyelid closure, and so on.
1. Physiological factors: for example, bad mood, excessive sadness, or eyestrain may lead to tearing in sleep. It can be relieved by proper rest and emotion regulation, and no special treatment is needed.
2. Narrowing of the tear ducts: If the tear ducts are narrowed due to foreign bodies, trauma or tumors in the eyes, the tears cannot be discharged in a timely manner, which may lead to tearing, especially when the symptoms of tearing are especially obvious during sleep.
3. Incomplete eyelid closure: For example, incomplete eyelid closure due to facial paralysis leads to prolonged exposure of the conjunctiva in the air, resulting in increased tear secretion, which may cause tearing during sleep.
If tearing occurs frequently and is not relieved after adjusting lifestyle habits, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible.
