Surgery is often required for patients with ligament ruptures. After a ligament rupture, the stability of the joint is significantly reduced. Surgery should be considered to repair or rebuild the ligament, to restore stability, to prevent accelerated degeneration, and to maximize protection of joint function. The ligament can be completely repaired through surgery, and in severe cases, ligament reconstruction surgery is required. After ligament surgery patients need to work with rehabilitation to restore joint stability and to protect the ligaments from re-tearing before they recover. With aggressive surgery and rehabilitation, the ligaments can be successfully repaired and the function of the joint will be satisfactorily restored. Patients are able to resume normal life and work after active treatment.
