Hypodense foci in the liver are an abnormal manifestation of CT of the liver, indicating that abnormal lesions are likely to exist in the liver at this time. There are many clinical causes of hepatic hypodense foci, and some diseases can be treated to restore normal liver imaging, such as heterogeneous fatty liver. Some diseases are benign lesions and do not require clinical management, although further enhanced CT is required to clarify the exact cause, such as hepatic hemangioma, hepatic adenoma, and focal nodular hyperplasia of the liver. Some diseases are likely to be primary liver cancer or metastatic liver cancer, which also need further enhancement CT to clarify. Primary liver cancer should be actively considered for surgery, interventional embolization or ablation treatment after clarification. Metastatic liver cancer is mainly treated by comprehensive treatment, and a small number of patients can also be considered for surgery, such as patients with liver metastasis from colorectal cancer.
