The prognosis for mucinous carcinoma of the appendix is relatively poor and patient survival is usually short. Mucinous carcinoma of the appendix is a common type of malignant tumor of the appendix, and although the incidence is considered to be relatively low, it is usually advanced by the time it is detected. Mucinous carcinoma of the appendix is prone to perforation of the appendix leading to implantation and dissemination of tumor cells in the abdominal cavity. Clinical treatment of appendiceal mucinous carcinoma is mainly radical surgery, but the specific treatment effect varies according to the stage, and metastasis usually occurs. However, early appendiceal mucinous carcinoma still has a relatively large possibility of cure, while the cure effect of middle and late stage or tumor with low differentiation degree is not good, and basically, it needs adjuvant chemotherapy (e.g. oxaliplatin, irinotecan, bevacizumab, cetuximab, panitumumumab, etc.) to improve the therapeutic effect, so clinically it is recommended that only actively cooperate with the antitumor treatment to prolong the patient’s survival period as much as possible.
