Where is the pancreas?

The pancreatic area is located in the posterior wall of the peritoneum. The pancreas is located in the posterior part of the peritoneum, so it is a retroperitoneal organ. According to its morphology, the pancreas can be divided into the head, neck, body and tail of the pancreas. To the right of the pancreas, the duodenum encircles the head of the pancreas in a C-shape; the end of the tail of the pancreas is next to the spleen. The pancreas has a duct that runs through the head and tail, called the “main pancreatic duct”, which collects and drains pancreatic juice, and whose opening is in the duodenum. The opening of the main pancreatic duct is located in the duodenum. The pancreas is also surrounded by important blood vessels of various sizes, which are responsible for the blood transportation of the liver, gallbladder, stomach, intestines, spleen and other important organs. Patients are advised to pay attention to the occurrence of pancreatic diseases in their normal life, not to take it lightly, and to seek medical treatment in time.
