What is an epididymal head cyst?

Epididymal head cysts may be related to long-term suppression of ejaculation, chronic infection, trauma, congenital malformation of epididymal duct development, and blockage of vas deferens.
1. Long-term inhibition of ejaculation: inhibition of ejaculation will make ejaculation not smooth, resulting in semen stagnation, and epididymal head cysts may appear.
2. Chronic infection: chronic infection of the epididymis will cause local adhesions, which can lead to blockage of the small ducts in the epididymis and the appearance of epididymal head cysts.
3. Trauma: scarring after trauma may also block the small ducts in the epididymis, causing epididymal head cysts.
4. Congenital malformation of epididymal duct: malformation of epididymal duct leads to obstruction of semen transportation, which may cause epididymal head cyst.
It is suggested that patients with epididymal head cyst should go to the hospital in time to clarify the cause and have standardized treatment under the doctor’s guidance.
