Newborns can see things in a few days

Usually a newborn child has vision, only it is poor. After birth, a child can vaguely see a blurry image of about 20 cm for the first few days. With growth and development, by one month of age, the child will have a light-tracking sense, where the eyes can follow the light to move, and can also see the movement of objects in front of them, such as the swing of a hand. At the age of half a year, the child’s visual acuity can reach 0.05, and at the age of one, the child’s visual acuity can be around 0.1. At the age of 5, children can see at 0.6, and at the age of 7-8, they can see at 1.0. Some children develop a little slower and their vision status may be a little worse, but as long as the vision of both eyes is balanced and the vision is in the process of progressing, it should be basically normal. It is important to note that you should not cover your eyes while your baby is sleeping or when you are holding your baby outside, because infancy is the most sensitive period for visual development. If the sunlight is too strong when you carry your baby outside, you can temporarily cover it with a saran wrap to avoid stimulating your baby’s eyes. Babies can generally sleep at night without lights, if you want to turn on the lights, the lights should not be too strong, to cover the lights or light from the ground, so that the lights do not stimulate the eyes and affect the baby’s sleep.
