Those who suffer from dysmenorrhea and low menstrual bleeding due to blood stasis are usually allowed to do moxibustion when they are having an aunt; those who have a deficiency of yin and fire or heavy menstrual bleeding are not recommended to do moxibustion.
Whether or not you can do moxibustion on your period needs to be determined according to your actual physical condition. For example, some women who experience frequent menstrual cramps, decreased menstrual blood volume, dark menstrual blood, and cold extremities because of poor blood circulation (blood stasis) can usually do moxibustion on their period, as it can activate the blood circulation to remove blood stasis, move qi to dissipate stagnation and has a beneficial effect on improving menstruation.
However, not all women can have moxibustion, such as the usual menstrual flow, or due to the Yin essence loss of the symptoms of the fire, if the moxibustion, may aggravate the bleeding or the phenomenon of internal fire hyperactivity.
In order to avoid improper moxibustion on the body, women are not recommended to moxibustion, if you need to moxibustion, must be after a professional doctor’s guidance.
