Can fire cause a cough?

Coughs can be caused by fire. The term “fire” is a folk saying. Normally, fire should be downward to warm the body, when various reasons lead to “fire” can not go downward and turn upward, there will be “on fire”. According to Chinese medicine, coughs caused by phlegm-heat and lungs, liver-fire and lung-yin deficiency (insufficient yin in the lungs), etc. are all caused by fire.
1. Phlegm-heat and lung depression type: the patient manifests as coughing with thick air, coughing up yellow, thick and sticky phlegm, fullness and tightness in the chest and ribs, accompanied by redness in the face, dryness in the mouth and thirst, and body heat.
2. Liver fire offending the lungs: the patient manifests as coughing bouts, red face and eyes, bitter mouth and dry throat, and the symptoms increase or decrease with emotional fluctuations.
3. Lung Yin deficiency type: the patient manifests as dry cough, sputum with blood or sputum less sticky white, dry mouth and throat, gradually hoarse voice, night sweating (abnormal sweating after going to sleep, waking up sweating stops), lethargy and fatigue and other symptoms.
