Can severe deafness be cured?

Whether severe deafness can be cured depends on the cause. If it is Meniere’s disease, acoustic neuroma usually can not be cured, but can improve the symptoms through treatment, if it is caused by drug factors, part of the possible cure.
1. Ménière’s disease: the cause is not clear, may be related to inflammation, genetics, etc., can be triggered after exertion, can cause vertigo and hearing loss and other symptoms. There is no cure at present, but the prognosis can be improved and the symptoms relieved by medication such as prenervous inhibitors (Benadryl, Diazepam), glucocorticoid drugs (Dexamethasone), and so on.
2. Auditory neuroma: It may be caused by heredity and mainly manifests the symptoms of hearing loss and tinnitus. It is usually incurable, and surgery and radiotherapy are the main methods to control the disease and improve the symptoms.
3. Drug factors: taking ototoxic drugs may cause damage to hearing, some patients may be able to recover after stopping the drugs.
If the deafness is caused by tumors or age-related degenerative changes, it usually cannot be cured. It is recommended that patients maintain a good attitude and actively seek medical treatment to avoid delays.
